Bacation

Erma decided that she needed a bacation.

What is a bacation to a preschooler? Obviously, it is a day when you do not spend from morning til evening playing with friends, singing songs, or engaging in the numerous activities that fill one’s hours with constant delights.

So Erma stayed home from preschool on Tuesday for her bacation with Daddy day.

At the end of the day, I asked her what she did with her time off. “I played the matching game with Daddy and I win two times!!!!” (Seriously, she exclaimed this in a multiple-exclamation-point type of way.)

What else did she do? She ate a popsicle. She accompanied her father figure to the grocery establishment. She took a bike ride. It sounded like a pretty fantastic day, I must admit.

And, anyway, she had to use up those vacation days. If you don’t use them, you lose them, am I right?

Oddly enough, on her first day back from bacation, Erma wore a tropical print sleeveless shirt and velvet pants.
