Where It Began

I can’t begin to knowing.

Who is Sillyliss?

Why? Who’s asking? She’s just a girl, that’s all. A girl from Tampa or a girl from New Jersey or a girl from Minnesota. A girl taken out of the city and a girl returned to it. A girl whose favorite color is purple and cannot be amended to cerulean blue. A girl who knows all the words to The Cat in the Hat and a girl who has read Bridget Jones’s Diary more than once. A girl who has banned herself from eBay’s notoriously addictive Nesting Dolls section. A girl who owns a receipt spindle and isn’t afraid to use it. A girl who likes her grammar rules but isn’t afraid to fragment off a sentence here or there. Or everywhere. A girl who has seen both Jerry Seinfeld and Neil Diamond in concert. And swooned.

A girl with a couple of blogs. A girl with the confidence to try things out and the insecurity to post all the screw-ups.

  1. And I know that girl… I used to call her “vanessa-darlin” in my best honey dripped southern accent. And now I live amongst the southern accents. πŸ™‚

    • I remember you drawling, “I’ve got friends in looooow places…” Anytime I ever hear that song, everything in the world stops, and I am back in Mrs. LaBruzzo’s class in one of the few good moments of junior high.

      • M- I deactivated my facebook (it was causing alot of drama in my life)…and that is mainly how we were communicating….will you email me when you can? My work email is my first inital, then armstrong, no dots spaces or dashes between the initial and last name.@. Then the (AT) – C, T, T, the word group and a dot com. Again no spaces or dashes between those letters and the word group.

  2. SWEET CAROLINE (bom bom bom)

    • I am truly honored to know that you actually like my blog, Tatte. πŸ™‚ That makes me feel so nice. I just started this blog a couple of months ago. I was wondering if it would become anything anybody would want to read, apart from my mother. This means a lot to me. πŸ™‚

  3. I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this, but you’ve been nominated for the Sunshine Award because I love your blog! Check in at my blog (Look for “Sunshine on My Shoulders”) to find out what fabulous prizes you’ve won! (Sure you already know all this, but, hey…..)

PS, I’d add a link but I’m not sure how to do that yet.

    • Wow, I am so honored, my goodness. Thank you, Emma! I don’t really know what to do with awards. My blog is just so new. I’m not worthy, I’m not worthy!

  4. Yay! Unless I’m hallucinating, you’ve moved from LiveJournal!! πŸ™‚
D’you remember me, I wonder? Creator of nutty polls, etc?

    • Oh! Hi, Val! I do remember! Not the polls as much, but the pictures of the British countryside, the poetry, and the stories about your family. πŸ™‚

      • Ah. I was posting them to my old blog here too, but deleted it a while back. Am starting a new blog in a few weeks (with luck). πŸ™‚

  5. Happy Saturday! I have nominated you for One Lovely Blog Award AND the Beautiful Blogger Award! http://coffeepoweredmom.wordpress.com/2012/06/23/one-lovely-blog-award-and-the-beautiful-blogger-award/

  6. I have nominated you for a One Lovely Blog award.

  7. “Bridget Jones’ Diary” is one of my favorite books! And I saw Jerry in concert, too. I didn’t swoon, only because I was laughing so hard … and really loudly. Jerry actually paused and looked directly at me to see where the cackling was coming from … in the second row … because AA Hubby sometimes (okay, once) gets it right by scoring awesome tickets to a show for my birthday. I bet you wouldn’t have guessed that I laugh a lot. I think I annoyed Jerry. (Very Seinfeld-episode-ish, I like to think.)

    • LOL! Did he do his Hello Newman? When we saw him in Grand Forks, the North Dakotans made him do it like twenty times. Then he did a good bit on Grand Forks and North Dakota. It was spectacular. My husband actually got a migraine from laughing so much.

      • I can’t remember – it was all just one big Laugh Fest. (Oh, and I’m middle-aged so can’t remember anything.) I can only imagine the Grand Forks and ND hilarious-ness! We saw him on something recently and he said that he had to introduce Paul Newman once, and Paul had him introduce him by saying Hello Newman. It brought down the house. Do you know about this funny business – don’t miss Spare Parts: http://comediansincarsgettingcoffee.com/

        • P.S. Just have to share that Brian Regan is my favorite from Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Never heard of him before – his concerts on Youtube are hilarious, especially the one with his bit about Hyperbole. I think you might enjoy his humor – very much like Jerry’s.

          • I will definitely check out the site! My brother raves about Brian Regan all the time. He had me watch a bunch of youtube videos of him a few years back when I was visiting. They were good. πŸ™‚

  8. Hello! I like the sound of this girl πŸ˜‰
